Music It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood: Blink 182

October 5, 2011 - 5:31 pm

In case you missed it, last week Blink 182 released a new CD called Neighborhoods. Cleverly you can stream parts of the entire album off their site on the interweb and connect to other people in YOUR neighborhood who are also listening at the same time. Its a bit like when you are in a hotel room on chat and one of your unseen neighbors hits you up for random chat sex. Come on, I know that doesn’t only happen to me?

Contest Travis Barker Wants to Play With You

March 14, 2011 - 9:23 am

350x580_Travis_Barker

Travis Barker is one of, if not THE best drummers of a generation. If you have ever had the pleasure to see him play live, its heart thumping, perfect rhythm, creative genius, goodness. If you are in a band, you know that most drummers (clearly not this one) are notoriously slack. So problem solved…have Travis play on YOUR next record. I admit, the possibility of it makes me want to get the band back together. It really is quite a generous offer.

Check it out…

What are you waiting for? Get ready to get great!

You’re welcome!

Gaga "Born this Way"

Lady Gaga released her song “Born This Way” today and HOMEGIRL TOTES STOLE MY LINE: “…put your paws up.” I’ve been saying paws instead of hands for ages now (because “paws” is such an adorable word)! Feeling kind of “eh” about the song but I reckon it’ll grow on me; reminds me of something I would have loved when I was 16 – you know, the kind of song you blast in the car with your friends when you first get your license and you drive around listening to music as loud as you want just for the sake of driving around and listening to music? Good times…

Music The Cool Kids: Self Proclaimed Black Version of the Beastie Boys

August 3, 2009 - 12:16 pm

The Cool Kids

I don’t always agree with the saying, “opposites attract,” but how could you not after watching The Cool Kid’s perform on Saturday night at D-Fest? First, we had Chuck Inglish, wearing a t-shirt, jeans tucked into high top sneakers, “Live 95” hanging down from around his neck, and a Chicago Cubs baseball hat. Then, we had Mikey Rocks, who rapped the whole set with his right sneaker untied, whether or not it was to his knowledge remains a mystery, dressed in a blue polo shirt, cargo shorts, and a Chicago Sox hat. After watching the set, it was nonnegotiable that Mikey and Chuck may have different styles but definitely jive very well together where it counts, and that would be the rap arena. The duo arrived on stage and immediately snatched up the attention of the crowd with lyrics like: “Cool Kids drop it like we put it in the water.”
