Christopher Golden is best known for his novel ‘Baltimore, or The Steadfast Tin Soldier and the Vampire’ which featured illustrations from ‘Hellboy’ creator Mike Mignola. Golden was also the writer of several of the ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ comics before Joss Whedon took over duties for ‘Season Eight’. Already an accomplished author of several sci-fi and fantasy novel, his creator-owned series ‘Baltimore’, based on his original novel, is scheduled for release this fall.

Comic Books Gallery A Brief History of “The Con”
If you are like myself and are not with the estimated 126,000+ people packed into the San Diego Convention Center presently; you may not fully understand this thing called “Comic-Con”. Well, pull up here on ol’ DD’s lap, and get ready for a little learnin.’
Sheldon “Shel” Dorf, who passed last year and may THOR rest his soul, started out as a comic book “letterer” after graduating from the Art Institute of Chicago. Shel helped run a smaller fan gathering in his native Detroit before moving to sunny San Diego in 1970. The move is rumored to have something to do with his affinity for whales [sic]. I digress, that same year he held his first 3-day convention featuring Mr. Forrest J. Ackerman at which almost 300 people attended.
Comic Books Featured Joëlle Jones – Troublemaker, Dr. Horrible
Joëlle Jones has been hard at work in the comics mecca of Portland, OR with several independent projects. Recently, she worked with ‘Dr. Horrible’ writer Zack Whedon on a sold-out issue revealing the back-story of Neil Patrick Harris’s character. Jones is poised to become one of the industry’s hottest talents with the release of ‘Troublemaker’, written by New York Times bestselling author Janet Evanovich.
Comic Books Dean Motter – Mister X, Electropolis
Dean Motter is the legendary designer, illustrator, and writer most known for his masterpiece ‘Mister X Archives’ that launched the careers of other famous creators like Jaime Hernandez and Dave McKean. The collection, a fusion of Art Deco, German Expressionism and Film Noir, recently won Print magazine’s Regional Design Award and the PubWest Award. Motter has since released ‘Mister X: Condemned’ which continues to explore the philosophy of psychetecture – the idea that a city’s layout can influence its citizen’s emotional state – through antique futurism. His work is currently on exhibit at The Cité in Paris along side original art from Windsor McCay’s ‘Little Nemo’.
Comic Books Guy Davis
Guy Davis is the celebrated artist of ‘B.P.R.D.’ and the creator of the haunting black-and-white graphic novel ‘The Marquis’, which ‘Hellboy’ creator Mike Mignola called, “beautiful, smart, and very disturbing.” Last year, Davis won the coveted Eisner Award for Best Penciller & Inker in the industry. To date, Davis has drawn nearly one hundred issues for Dark Horse Comics.
Comic Books John Jackson Miller: Not at Comic-Con
John Jackson Miller, or ‘JJM’ as he is lovingly referred to on comic forums, is the writer of ‘Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic’ and ‘Mass Effect: Redemption’ which he co-wrote with Mac Walters, the lead writer of Mass Effect 2. This fall, Miller will write ‘Star Wars: Knight Errant’ for Dark Horse Comics in addition to writing a novel for Random House Books based on the same time period and characters. As part of Dark Horse Comics’ San Diego Comic-Con announcements, Miller will continue working with Mac Walters on a new series titled ‘Mass Effect: Evolution.’
Comic Books Chris Onstad: ‘Worst Song, Played on Ugliest Guitar’
Chris Onstad is the writer and illustrator of the popular webcomic ‘Achewood’ which TIME Magazine named the #1 graphic novel of 2007. His work has since gone on to win back-to-back Ignatz Awards and earn praise from The New York Times, The New Yorker, and humorist Dave Barry. He has two books with Dark Horse Comics – ‘The Great Outdoor Fight’ and ‘Worst Song, Played on Ugliest Guitar’ with ‘A Home For Scared People’ set to be released this fall.
