Gallery Music Semi Precious Weapons Set to Destroy

August 29, 2011 - 3:29 pm

Semi Precious Weapons is a band of many talents. Aside from front man Justin Tranter’s ability to practically put his leg behind his head in the middle of an interview, they are known for attracting an array of popular female supporters, such as Kate Moss. The band recently got off the road with Lady Gaga, who has been a fan of the band since before she was what Justin refers to as “The biggest star in the world.” Justin and co. make their own jewelry in a line called Fetty, which was started as a means to fund the band when broke and living in New York and has now hit the shelves of Barneys, Urban Outfitters, and Hot Topic. To top it all off, Semi Precious Weapons have an official goat, which they claim is a crabby creature that even has it’s own Twitter page.

Check out our recent interview with the band below:

Good Art Hlywd Skull

Growing up a punk rock girl I was always on the look out for the ultimate rock n roll accoutrement. As a fully grown punk rock girl, it gets a little harder to find appropriate accessories that still say “I’m edgy but won’t shop at Hot Topic”. Enter Good Art Hlywd! Founder Josh Warner creates handcrafted American masterpieces in Los Angeles one fine design at a time.

This brand is authentic Americana to the core. Admired equally for the perfection of the Spanish Cross, the elegant hand-assembled chains and the venerable Model 10 Bracelet, this is communication on a visceral level. Every facet of the line is steeped in Warner’s spare-no-expense attitude of “do it right or not at all”.

Fashion Featured Bloodmilk: Supernatural Jewels For Surrealist Darlings

July 19, 2010 - 12:02 pm

Bloodmilk

Miss Schnabel of Bloodmilk is not your average jeweler.  You won’t see diamond engagement rings, mass-produced pendants or hoop earrings in her collection.  Instead, she believes that jewelry provides “psychic armour.”  Her work is thoughtful, & exquisitely strange.

If the love of your life is more a fan of the Brothers Grimm than Jon & Kate Plus 8, maybe a Bloodmilk bear tooth engagement ring is what she’s always dreamed of.  Perhaps a sterling silver ouija planchette necklace is more her cup of tea.  This is jewelery worn by unusual girls, the type who read tarot cards & prefer absinthe & wouldn’t be caught dead in Urban Outfitters.  From two-finger owl skull rings to sparrow claw lariat necklaces, Bloodmilk pieces are dark but delicate, beautiful & obscene.

Art/Design Cement Jewelry – Charms for Real Men

September 15, 2009 - 10:38 am

They say blood is thicker than water, but in the case of Toronto-based jewelry line Cement, it’s also heavier than gravel. Founder and designer Russell Gozlan comes from a family four generations deep in the jewelry industry, so every necklace is carefully crafted from conception to completion at the Gozlan family factory.

“I have the luxury of being hands on with the manufacturing process, which is really important to me,” Russell says. “Creating a new necklace is an exciting process and usually takes around one week from start to finish.  Once I have an idea of what piece I want to create, a mold is made over a few days which then goes into production.  Everything is made in Canada and either with sterling silver or gold.”
