Art Gallery The Colors of “Perfectasy” by ONCH

August 17, 2011 - 10:31 am

I have been to a place my friends. A place called Royal T, where one can see Japanese “Harajuku” girls jumping inside an inflatable cupcake. A micro shop wherein’ exists a wall of golden chains festooned with faux tri-tip, bananas and pretzels in all shades of the rainbow. And I’ve also been told one might expect an encounter with the mythical Unicorn.

This “Perfectasy” I speak of is all the aforementioned and more, so I grabbed the designer ONCH, who is partially responsible for this dreamscape and asked her to show me the tell behind the tale.

Fashion Featured Gallery Inside Paris Hilton’s Closet

July 22, 2011 - 10:39 am

Even the biggest of closets can’t hold all the clothing and accessories that are thrown a celebrity’s way. Plus, let’s be honest, when your life is in the public eye, wearing the same dress to more than one party won’t earn you points with the paparazzi. A celebrity’s wardrobe is continuously evolving and there are always things that need to be tossed, or in the case of Paris Hilton, sold to new owners in the name of charity.

Fashion Featured Purrfect Pineapples: Sinfully Delicious

July 8, 2011 - 10:46 am

Purrfect Pineapples

I love underthings. Bras, panties, corsets, bustiers, you name it I pretty much can’t resist it. My love for such things started somewhere in college when laundry, and the ability to put it off, became my favorite past time. The more panties I owned, the longer I could postpone the inevitable drudgery. Plus… I’m a girl. Hi. In an overall broad sweeping statement I’m gonna go ahead and say that yep… most women like to wear beautiful, sexy lingerie. And in that same token…most men don’t exactly mind.

Imagine my complete delight when I discovered Purrfect Pineapples. Hand made, high end, cruelty free lingerie that is simply yum. It was love love love at first click. The fact that they use alternative, tattooed models only helped me see the potential for their gorgeous creations. Cool, pretty, gorgeously made…I’m all in.

Featured Gallery Music Punk Rock Pool Party: Old Man Markley

June 22, 2011 - 9:00 am

One of the best things about Summertime is the abundance of pool parties. But if that pool party is in Las Vegas and Old Man Markley is playing, then it’s possibly the Best Pool Party Ever!

Iron Fist Clothing hosted the Punk Rock Pool Party and Bikini Contest at the Goldspike Hotel in Vegas, just off historic Freemont Street in Old Las Vegas. The pool area itself is classic mid-century motor inn, far from the shadow of the McHotels on the strip. Perfect for sunbathing! And an afternoon invasion from punks around the globe (including Canada and Australia!) which didn’t seem to bother the hotel staff one bit.

Contest Red Bull Grand Design Challenge

May 3, 2011 - 12:25 pm

Red Bull Moto GP Grid GirlsChinaShop is hosting an online contest inviting designers, fashionistas, and motorsport enthusiasts to design the 2011 Red Bull Grid Girl outfits for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix (July 22-24 2011) and Red Bull Indianapolis GP (August 26-28, 2011) MotoGP races.

What’s MotoGP, you ask? It is the world’s premier motorcycle racing series, where the riders can go over 200 mph on million-dollar motorcycles. With 18 races in 13 countries, it is the two-wheel version of Formula 1.

The Red Bull Grid Girls help to keep the festivities interesting. Every year a group of very hot – and I’m sure, talented – models are chosen to help start the race and help celebrate at the finish.

Red Bull Grid Girls

Red Bull hosts both American MotoGP races, and would like a different, new design for the girls to wear at each one. You don’t have to be a race enthusiast in order to desire to see an outfit you conceived on the girls. You don’t even need to know how to sew! Red Bull will take care of getting the outfits constructed, all you have to do is come up with an innovative, creative, classic, tasteful yet sexy design. Think in terms of an entire look including perhaps a hat? belt? shoes? etc. Start doodling on those drink napkins NOW!

Art Artstar: Yumna

April 25, 2011 - 11:47 am

Yumna

Yumna is a young photographer working in New York who’s evocative, color saturated work captures milieus from NYC fashion parties to the gingerbread skyscrapers of Yemen.

Your photography ranges from reportage in the Middle East to fashion work. What unifying elements do your pieces share?

Starting college, I was never sure of what I wanted to do because I always felt as though I had so many interests and was generally good at teaching myself pretty much anything I wanted to know. My initial interests were fashion related. My blog focused on my personal style and I was keen on developing something that was unique but not out of my financial realm. People took interest to my sense of style and I eventually began selling vintage pieces on eBay. I would do everything for the store from photographing to modeling to advertising… all on my own. After finishing my associate’s degree, I took a trip to the Middle East. It was my first time being there since I was a little girl and having obviously matured since then, I had the ability to take in a whole new side of my life that had been so untouched for years. Documenting my entire experience was only natural for me. I felt as though I had opened a whole new realm of my life-I felt so in love with my roots and wanted to share it with everyone-just the same as I had been doing with pretty much every other aspect of my life. The Middle East and fashion are two things I absolutely love-but sharing it all is truly my passion and basis for most everything I create.

Fashion Featured Gallery Speak Softly and Wear a Literary Tee: Tee Library

March 8, 2011 - 11:05 am

When you think about T-shirt culture there are SO many companies cranking out cotton garments season after season. Some good, some bad, a lot of them…pointless. Not so with Tee Library. Perhaps you will at least appear a little smarter without even needing a library card.

Their inspiration comes from books. Sometimes reaching back to the classics, and sometimes the best sellers list, the designers at Tee Library find a story they want to portray and then presto…a fresh take on that story emerges.
