It’s been a hell of a ride so far for Dallas based Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights, who are a fairly recent addition to the powerful roster of Atlantic Records. Jumping off the Southern leg of the Kid Rock and Lynyrd Skynyrd tour, the band is ready to head into the studio in Nashville to lay down some new material which will be the follow-up project to their 2007 Hot Trottin’. With an aggressive schedule of summer festivals, Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights will be making their second appearance at Tulsa’s 8^th annual D-Fest on the Arvest Bank Stage at Dirty’s Tavern on Friday night.

Bars/Clubs Eskimo Joes has Taken Over Oklahoma

Last night, we drove thru Stillwater to take a peak at Oklahoma State University and got ‘thirsty’ along the way. After asking several people for recommendations of where to grab a drink, we kept hearing about Eskimo Joe’s and decided that we had to check it out for ourselves. Not only was the bar an absolute blast, but we picked a fantastic night to end up there. All week has been Joe’s 34^th Anniversary Celebration party and yesterday featured a Little Joe’s eating contest, a ‘Wicked Night’ theme, which brought out the flair in many of the bar staff, and an electrifying performance from Jonathan Tyler and the Northern Lights. There was also a Red Bull ice lounge and a “spin-the-wheel-for-a-prize” contest, which a lady that found a ticket in her napkin was able to participate in, winning a free entrée.
