Fashion Gallery Comic Book Vixens = Every Fanboy’s Wet Dream

July 25, 2011 - 10:49 am

Despite missing Comic-Con this year, I have experienced in an hour what many lifelong attendees won’t. Ever. For instance, if I were to tell you that at this year’s convention, every hot chick dressed as a comic book character will be doused with a Smylex-like pheromone gas that will make them instantaneously peel off their clothes, chances are you’d kill/pillage/etc. to get tickets.

Or you could have done something even better, and gone to Comic Book Vixens — the new show by the burlesque troop Devil’s Playground. Which did all that, and more. This thing couldn’t have been more perfectly tailored to any comic (especially DC!) aficionado. Naked Harley Quinn. Naked Poison Ivy. You get the picture — if not, have some…

Film Fridays Film Fridays: Dark Knight Villains: Good or Bad?, Plus A New Dark Knight Short Film, and Liam Neeson Returns to Star Wars

Film Fridays

Holy Batsh*t! It’s been a busy week in the comic book-to-movie world: this week, director Christopher Nolan announced who would play his villains in The Dark Knight Rises. One of them isn’t surprising (Catwoman), but the other (Bane) seems mildly insane. It’s not that Bane is a terrible choice, it’s just…kinda unsettling. If Nolan had picked The Riddler, I’m sure a lot of us would feel safer — but face it, The Riddler ain’t much to work with.

In other Batman news, a short film called “The Rat” is getting some decent buzz. It’s set in the Nolanverse, right after Batman puts the Joker away in The Dark Knight. Life has apparently become extremely boring for some Gotham City Detectives.

Wonder-Woman-New-By-Don-Kramer

I don’t have to tell you that this week DC Comics released the new look for Wonder Woman, by Don Kramer.  It’s not only the comic universe that is in an uproar, but pretty much everyone that ever had a fond memory or attachment to the heroine. After all she was one of the only superheros who didn’t have a male counterpart come first. I mean, really…there wasn’t much of a need for a Wonder Man.

Just recently I started watching the original 1974 TV series with the gorgeous Linda Carter filling WW’s red leather boots. With the risk of dating myself, I remember catching episodes as a little girl and being absolutely titillated by her glossy brown hair and overt sexuality. My Mother thought she was a bit scandalous, which made me all the more interested in paying very close attention. I think for a lot of girls, Wonder Woman was the first female we had access to as a role model.
