Innerpartysystem

New York based trio INNERPARTYSYSTEM has no problem flying in the face of conventional electronica. “Not Getting Any Better,” the single from their February EP Never Be Content, showcases their finest abilities in crafting an emotive and affecting song within the framework of a bangin’ dance track. Contrary to the spirit of the song title, this trio’s career is growing fast, and their highly anticipated sophomore full-length is due out within the year.

So now the band and Indaba are calling on you to create your best remix of their latest hit. Your submission could win you a cool grand and a spot alongside INNERPARTYSYSTEM on an upcoming Red Bull Records release!

Contest Travis Barker Wants to Play With You

March 14, 2011 - 9:23 am

350x580_Travis_Barker

Travis Barker is one of, if not THE best drummers of a generation. If you have ever had the pleasure to see him play live, its heart thumping, perfect rhythm, creative genius, goodness. If you are in a band, you know that most drummers (clearly not this one) are notoriously slack. So problem solved…have Travis play on YOUR next record. I admit, the possibility of it makes me want to get the band back together. It really is quite a generous offer.

Check it out…

What are you waiting for? Get ready to get great!

You’re welcome!

Film Gallery “Life’s a Pitch”- Voxhaul Video Contest

February 10, 2011 - 10:13 am

At this year’s inaugural Los Angels Music Video Festival (LAMVF), a very interesting experiment took place. An event titled “Life’s a Pitch” provided aspiring music video directors with the opportunity to pitch their ideas for a video to accompany the new single of Los Angeles rockers Voxhaul Broadcast. The band, named one of LA’s best new indie bands of 2010 by LA Times, plopped on a couch and sipped beer while four participants took turns standing before them and presenting their video concepts for the song, “Leaving On The 5th.” The prize for the winning pitch was the opportunity to produce Voxhaul Broadcast’s new video with the use of a Sony HDW F900 camera, provided courtesy of Alternative Records.

Gallery Music Young Jesus: The Second Coming

February 7, 2011 - 8:17 am

Young Jesus might consider themselves to be an average bunch of Joe’s from the Midwest, but Red Bull thinks they’re pretty sweet. The Chicago-based band won an opportunity to go head to head against Brighton MA in a national showdown called Rock The Route. Touring across Route 66, the bands competed every stop along the tour and earned points based on performance, fan interaction, fan base, and overall rock factor. A slew of celebrity judges, like the band’s new arch nemesis, the Shiny Toy Guns, offered their feedback and fans also texted in to cast their votes. At the end of the competition, Brighton MA slid into first but Young Jesus had a hell of a ride along the way.

I caught up with the guys at Red Bulls Studios where they were recording two new songs. The guys bum rushed the break room fridge and stocked up on Red Bulls, I slammed an energy shot, and then it was officially Rock The Route story time.

January 27, 2011 - 10:51 am

By the time I was 18 all I had ever recorded was the outgoing message on my answering machine. Not so much for 16 yr old front man Joey Cirillo of Australia’s newest pop/alt group Way With Words. He and his stoked band of still teen demons, Dylan Giannakopoulos (guitar), Luke  Mann (guitar), Sam Berry (bass), Jack Nicholls (drums), have spent the last 7 days in Los Angeles recording their first EP at Red Bull Studios, an $80,000 reward for winning Australia’s first Red Bull Bedroom Jam.

Event Red Bull BC One Announces Winner: ChinaShop Holds Contest

December 1, 2010 - 5:47 pm

BC One Championships Tokyo Japan 2010

In celebration of the Red Bull BC One championships that just took place in Tokyo Japan Last Saturday, ChinaShop is giving away 3 prize packages each containing a custom Nintendo DS unit and a Red Bull BC One game.

If you don’t know about Red Bull BC One, I invite you to take a gander at the amazing video below. This year, Brazilian power mover Neguin from the Tsunami All Stars crew took the crown in a spectacular finale battle against Just Do It, a Dutchman from the Rugged Solutions crew. The annual competition, now entering it’s eighth consecutive year, continues to raise the b-boy bar.  The talented competitors have taken the art form to a whole new level with double back flips, triple gainers, and self levitating windmills that boggle the mind. These chaps are hardly human, and while the odds are that you probably will never land a triple gainer, at least you could thumb a couple radical maneuvers on your new hand held (should you win).

Custom Nintendo Unit and Red Bull BC One Game

Gallery Music Battle of the Beats: Chicago Hosts Red Bull Big Tune Finals

November 23, 2010 - 11:43 am

Over the past six years, the formula behind the Red Bull Big Tune producer battle hasn’t been messed with much—two beat makers still face off in multiple rounds to see who has the more crowd-pleasing track. And judging by the 2010 Red Bull Big Tune Finals at Chicago’s Metro, hip-hop heads across the country are still dedicated to showing up and making noise for their favorite beat.

Gallery Music Red Bull Big Tune Welcomes Black Milk to Chicago

November 19, 2010 - 12:34 pm

Let’s just get this out of the way: hip-hop shows, more than any other genre, regularly feature an absurd amount of waiting before the headliner you went to see finally hits the stage—often after midnight. Some of the opening acts or DJs you see beforehand might be good and you may even be hyped to have been introduced to them, but when it takes four hours before the main act steps on stage, shit can get old. With this in mind, Black Milk’s last minute, Red Bull Big Tune pre-show in Chicago at Reggie’s Rock Club was as close to ideal as you can get.
