Plus, let’s be honest, when your life is in the public eye, wearing the same dress to more than one party won’t earn you points with the paparazzi. A celebrity’s wardrobe is continuously evolving and there are always things that need to be tossed, or in the case of Paris Hilton, sold to new owners in the name of charity.

Music It’s Better To Know Than to Wonder…Take Action Tour to Support Sex, Etc.

The Take Action Tour is an annual spring punk rock tour that raises money for good causes.  For over 10 years, the tour, created by Sub City and Hopeless Records has worked get people alerted about various teen issues.  Past tours have brought awareness to and worked to prevent teen suicide. This year, the Take Action Tour supports and a new beneficiary - Sex, Etc., a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising teen awareness for sexually transmitted diseases and the benefits of practicing safe sex.  A portion of the ticket sales and compilation CD sales are donated to the nonprofit.

Art/Design Gallery Oceanic Awareness Collaboration’s “Art For Awareness” Auction

Every piece of plastic that has ever been stamped, “Made in China”, or by any other country for that matter, still exists. Yes, some small portion has been burnt, but that just released toxic gas to the atmosphere. The rest sits in land fills, in your neighborhood park, or swims with the fishes in one of many swirling pools of plastic debris the size of Texas in our oceans. Tonight, two So-Cal boys named Tanner Hoss and Clay Wendel are out to change that.

Their “Oceanic Awareness Collaboration” has brought together 70+ artists from around the world, including my lovely boss lady Barbie Brady and this photographer’s favorite “photo stylist”/artist Renee Lawter, for an art show and silent auction this past weekend in Pamona, CA. I had a chance to chat up the founders for a quick minute over the roar of the show and the following is what they had to say…

Housing Works Charity Sample Sale Event 2010

“Where’s the Marc Jacobs?” a frantic fashionista yelled from across the room, while sockless Thom Browne groupies modeled button-ups and demanded, “Is purple my color?” People were indeed changing in the aisles, despite the available dressing rooms (sample sale habits die hard); at one point we tried to add a fellow shopper’s unattended coat to our pile of wares. Oops! Welcome to the Housing Works 7th annual Fashion for Action sample sale, which kicked off this past weekend in Housing Works’ Chelsea location with cute fashion kids, plenty of booze, and a store full of primo merchandise.

Hey NYC peeps, wondering how to fill your empty weekend hours?  Feel like you’ve been taking and taking from society and want to find a way to give back?  Well, why don’t you go shopping?

Yeah, you heard me.  Turn your superficial pastime into something quite, er, not superficial at the Housing Works seventh annual Fashion For Action event. Chaired by Thom Browne, it kicks off Thursday, November 18th with an opening night benefit and silent auction, and runs through Sunday, November 21st. with the extraordinary sample sale.
