The soundtrack for the film “Hanna” (side note: really want to see it), scored by the Chemical Brothers, was released exclusively through iTunes last month, but I only got around to checking it out this week (and it subsequently became my unofficial soundtrack; listened to it constantly). If you haven’t given it a listen / downloaded it yet, I highly recommend doing so because it’s awesome. Favorite tracks are: “Hanna’s Theme”; “Container Park” and “Escape 700”. Grab it here and / or watch the trailer after the jump.

Music The J Dilla Founation For the Arts
J Dilla, born James Dewitt Yancey, was a Grammy award winning record producer and artist who emerged from the mid-1990s underground hip-hop scene in Detroit, Michigan. According to NPR.org, he was one of the music industry’s most influential hip-hop artists. J Dilla changed hip-hop culture and the music industry as we know it. His creativity has molded and contributed to the sounds of recording artists such as De La Soul, Slum Village, Phat Kat, Common, The Pharcyde, Busta Rymes, Erykah Badu, and many more. On February 10, 2006 at the young age of 32, we lost J Dilla to Lupus and the rare blood disease TTP.
But J Dilla’s legacy lives on with The J Dillah foundation. The J Dilla Foundation is a non-profit charitable institution that serves to help fund inner-city music programs and provide scholarships to students attending schools that have progressive music curricula. The foundation was started by Maureen Yancey, mother of J Dilla. Maureen proclaims, “The J Dilla Foundation seeks to be a staple in the movement for progressive music education. We also hope to be leaders in the efforts to enhance and develop arts programs in urban communities.” Target cities for 2010 are Detroit, Atlanta, and Los Angeles.
Music Busta Rhymes at Body English
Of all the places I expected to see Busta Rhymes, an after-party for the MAGIC trade show in Las Vegas was not one of them — & yet, there he was, bouncing around on stage at the Hard Rock Hotel’s Body English nightclub. I was there by pure chance: some fortuitous browsing of the Las Vegas Weekly had alerted me to the show’s existence only a couple of hours earlier, & before I knew what was happening, I was throwing on clothes so I could run downstairs to experience the madness.
Body English is decorated like a bachelor pad on steroids. There’s an enormous chandelier which changes color, leather couches galore & huge VIP areas all around the perimeter of the club. It’s a really fun place to go for an experience verging on the ridiculous, & in this respect, it never disappoints.
Miami Sasha and John Digweed – Act 2
The Sasha and John Digweed boat party may have upheld an annual tradition but tweaked another. In the past, the party was on a Friday, the night after they played at the Mansion. This year, you had about two hours to get from the boat to the South Beach super club, and the process was jarring.
