Fashion Gallery Comic Book Vixens = Every Fanboy’s Wet Dream
Despite missing Comic-Con this year, I have experienced in an hour what many lifelong attendees won’t. Ever. For instance, if I were to tell you that at this year’s convention, every hot chick dressed as a comic book character will be doused with a Smylex-like pheromone gas that will make them instantaneously peel off their clothes, chances are you’d kill/pillage/etc. to get tickets.
Or you could have done something even better, and gone to Comic Book Vixens — the new show by the burlesque troop Devil’s Playground. Which did all that, and more. This thing couldn’t have been more perfectly tailored to any comic (especially DC!) aficionado. Naked Harley Quinn. Naked Poison Ivy. You get the picture — if not, have some…

Fashion Featured Gallery Inside Paris Hilton’s Closet
Even the biggest of closets can’t hold all the clothing and accessories that are thrown a celebrity’s way. Plus, let’s be honest, when your life is in the public eye, wearing the same dress to more than one party won’t earn you points with the paparazzi. A celebrity’s wardrobe is continuously evolving and there are always things that need to be tossed, or in the case of Paris Hilton, sold to new owners in the name of charity.
Art Gallery No Boys Allowed: All Female Street Art
LAB ART is currently featuring “Miss Danger on the Loose,” an all female street art exhibit which showcases the work of some of the city’s most up and coming artists including: Lydia Emily, Becca Midwood, K H No.7, Sara Incognito, Clio, Random Acts, Adventures, Ease Kym CBS, Lori Michael and Gretta Kuresi.
For an “invite only” soirée, the official “Miss Danger on the Loose” launch party was packed. Crowds of people lined up in the hopes of getting to the front of the line before capacity was reached while those not on the list attempted to butter up the bouncers enough to get in. Those that made it inside were able to feat their eyes on over 50 paintings, photographs, and installation pieces created by some pretty amazing women.
Art Gallery Outlaw Artisans: The Renegade Craft Fair
Are you looking to stock up on your felt jewelry, giant turkey leg stuffed animals, owl pillows, or cupcake candles? If so, you’ll be happy to know that you can pick up all of those items and more at the Renegade Craft Fair.
The eclectic indie art fair travels the globe, making stops in Austin, Brooklyn, London, Chicago, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. This is the place where you find the interesting and obscure knickknacks to collect dust on your shelves, the accessories sure to kick start a conversation, and the gifts that will top what everyone else brought for the birthday guest of honor.
Featured Gallery Music Jager-Bombs, Applebees, and Rick Springfield: Mean Jeans
The Mean Jeans are a good ol’ fashioned, party hard and get rowdy on stage, punk band from Portland. The trio, consisting of Billy Jeans (guitar/vocals), Jean Wilder (drums/vocals), and Howie Doodat (bass, vocals) recently played the Dark Horse (formerly Bordello) in Los Angeles.
After finishing up on stage and toweling off the sweat, Billy Jeans and Jean Wilder “attempted” a serious interview with ChinaShop. The guys told us all about how they are able to create such a powerful sound with only 3 members (a lot of it, according to Billy Jeans, comes down to the fact that they are too lazy to search for additional members), as well as discussed filling up swimming pools with Red Bull plus Jager and amazing parties they don’t quite remember.

Art Featured Gallery Yarn Bombing 18th Street
If you walked down the streets of Santa Monica recently, you might have noticed trees wearing sweaters, a convertible dressed in a knitted wardrobe, and crocheted birds hanging from trees. Your mind was not playing tricks on you – it was all part of a very real art phenomenon known as yarn bombing. In order to celebrate this knitted street art movement, the 18th Street Arts Center’s Arzu Arda Kosar and Arroyo Arts Collective co-president Heather Hoggan teamed up to present “18th Street Yarn Bombing.” For those unfamiliar with the trials and tribulations of yarn bombing, ChinaShop sat down with Kosar for the inside scoop:
