In case you missed it, last week Blink 182 released a new CD called Neighborhoods. Cleverly you can stream parts of the entire album off their site on the interweb and connect to other people in YOUR neighborhood who are also listening at the same time. Its a bit like when you are in a hotel room on chat and one of your unseen neighbors hits you up for random chat sex. Come on, I know that doesn’t only happen to me?

Music Foo Me Once, Shame on You: Foo Me Twice, Well Alright
No matter how you slice it, the Foo Fighters have earned their reputations as the nicest guys in rock n roll. Currently on tour in the US, but heading to Australia later this year, I caught up with them in both Columbus and my hometown of Pittsburgh PA. They threw down a 2 hour and 40 minute set of the loudest, proudest rock from the past 15 years. In a word…EPIC!
Lead singer (as if I have to introduce him), Dave Grohl told me that its like hosting a cocktail party every day at your office. Everyone is there to party and its his job to show them a good time. I can only imagine it being exhausting, but that’s why I’m an Editor, and he’s a Rock Star.
Fashion The Top 5 Fall Fashion Trends: 2011 Edition
With fashion becoming more diverse and complex than ever, there are still ways to stay current and update your look without a major impact to your wallet. Thankfully, certain modern staples are enjoying a long life span. Leggings and jeggings continue to be a great look as well as an investment. Women, it seems, are not too eager to give up a fashion element that is this versatile and comfortable.
However, the top 5 must-haves for this fall can joyfully add to your current wardrobe making you feel flirty and in style.
No.#1 Snake Skin
Whether you are a lover of prints or not you can’t deny the appeal of a great snake skin print. Jeans, shoes, dresses and even underwear are snake patterned this season. Designer Chloe‘s fall collection was fully inspired by the slippery slitherers.
Gallery Music Keri Hilson: No Boys Allowed… Except Maybe Lil Wayne
Say what you will about Keri Hilson, the girl is talented, determined, beautiful and in all the right company. Currently on the I Am Still Music Tour with Lil Wayne, Lloyd, Far East Movement and Rick Ross. Her sophomore album, No Boys Allowed has proved that she is no flash in the pan. Her strong voice and sex appeal continues to propel her above and beyond some of her lesser contemporaries (you know who they are).
Music Drop The Lime: Rockabilly Meets Drum and Bass
Imagine hitting a massive dance club in the heart of Hollywood on a weekend night. The 19 and up crowd consisting of girls in tight and tiny skirts and fellas rocking your basic t-shirt and jeans…and pompadours? For every 5 club kids, there was at least one rockabilly kid in the mix. A strange equation for a regular weekend night, unless of course you were at a Drop the Lime show.
Drop The Lime (born Luca Venezia in NYC) is not only an electronic producer and DJ, but he found the dance label Trouble & Bass. He unleashed his unique brand of dance/rockabilly onto a fevered crowd this past Friday night at Avalon in Hollywood. Deep resounding bass bombs forced your attention and moved your feet. DTL’s refreshing blend of the classic rock n roll standards with an electronic rhythm that leads you resoundingly into the night.
Fashion Featured Purrfect Pineapples: Sinfully Delicious
I love underthings. Bras, panties, corsets, bustiers, you name it I pretty much can’t resist it. My love for such things started somewhere in college when laundry, and the ability to put it off, became my favorite past time. The more panties I owned, the longer I could postpone the inevitable drudgery. Plus… I’m a girl. Hi. In an overall broad sweeping statement I’m gonna go ahead and say that yep… most women like to wear beautiful, sexy lingerie. And in that same token…most men don’t exactly mind.
Imagine my complete delight when I discovered Purrfect Pineapples. Hand made, high end, cruelty free lingerie that is simply yum. It was love love love at first click. The fact that they use alternative, tattooed models only helped me see the potential for their gorgeous creations. Cool, pretty, gorgeously made…I’m all in.
Gallery Music The Strokes Leave Them Numb
When The Strokes formed in 1998 they were a bunch of privileged New York kids with famous friends. Their sound was irreverent and admittedly unpolished and both critics and fans alike couldn’t get enough.
The casual vocal stylings of lead singer Julian Casablancas soon incited a movement. Considered creators of some of the best pop songs ever recorded, I have to admit I originally wanted to hate them. I first learned of The Strokes and their ilk by watching bad reality TV. After hearing their massive pop smash, “Last Night” I secretly purchased This Is It and begrudgingly listened to it…again…and again.
Gallery Music Eminem Ends Bonnaroo With a Bang
Eminem was slip-sliding away there for a minute. Self-admittedly his last CD was “eh,” his personal life was a bad soap opera and drugs where his number one activity. When he got sober, he grew up. I’ve heard Dr. Drew, of Celebrity Rehab fame, often say that you are stunted at the age that you start to heavily do drugs and you never really emotionally advance from that place until you are willing to quit. Well Dr. Drew, our little Marshall’s all grows up!
Gallery Music Florence and the Machine: Making Music out of Madness
Florence and the Machine may be a lot of things; mood makers for hipsters, sincerely passionate musicians, theatrical showman. But they never fail to engage the audience and enliven the soul. Florence (Welch) has a distinct vocal style that envelopes you like a wool blanket. While its inviting and warm, it also gets under your skin.
She admits that her best writing often happens when she is tired or drunk. Her ability to tap into that subconscious space and express it is powerful, moving and decidedly on point.
