Featured Gallery Music Lit Teams Up With Butch Walker: This is How Awesome is Made

January 2, 2012 - 1:20 pm

If your car is in the front yard, and you’re sleeping with your clothes on, then you know what I’m talking about when I say its time to get LIT.

Although they may be known for being their own worst enemies, the guys from Lit have teamed up with the notorious Producer/Singer/Songwriter Butch Walker to complete their latest opus, as yet untitled. I dropped in on the boys at Walker’s studio in Santa Monica to have a listen and catch up.

Art/Design And Now Onto An Entirely New Subjekt

December 27, 2011 - 10:26 am

I’m hard on headphones. I wear them daily at the office so I don’t disturb the folks who work nearby. I wear earbuds almost daily too, walking to and from work. Over the past few months I’ve been trying out a few different brands in the quest for a nice pair that feel comfortable and I have to say its been a bit harder than I anticipated.

Bars/Clubs Featured Slip Into The Slidebar

December 5, 2011 - 4:26 pm

If you love Rock n Roll and you somehow find yourself in Fullerton California, you simply can’t miss swinging by The Slidebar. This rock venue has all the charm and integrity of the greats… CBGB’s in NYC (only without the vomit smell), The Marquee Club in London (only without the accent), or the Electric Banana in Pittsburgh (only without the crazy owner wielding a shotgun).

Art/Design 5 Favorite Finds for Christmas at Jonathan Adler

December 2, 2011 - 10:20 am

Last night I got to meet one of my all time favorite designers, Jonathan Adler. You may recognize him from such television reality series as Top Design (which sadly won’t be coming back). But well before “See You Later Decorator” fame, he was, is and always has been a talented and gifted potter, designer, and entrepreneur.

With 16 actual stores, and an amazing online store you have no excuse to not buy yourself or your loved one something with a bit of whimsy this year. Each year I end up dropping vast amounts of money in his shop on Melrose and I thought I would share with you all my 5 favorite Jonathan Adler finds this year for the holiday season! Trust me, when you give a gift as sharp and fresh as these, no one could possibly be disappointed!

Music The Pixies Play The Music Box

November 22, 2011 - 3:08 pm

This past Saturday the seminal band, The Pixies, played a little venue in Hollywood called the Music Box. If you are saying to yourself right now, “I didn’t even know the Pixies were playing”, you are not alone. They opened up tickets to their fans alone and sold out in minutes. It was a very cool way to gather the faithful to pay homage to these alt rock icons.

But you can relive the experience through the photos. With a little photo shop magic and some creative lies you could always insert yourself…or you could just come out to our next night Friday, January 13th.

Music 8 Albums, 4 Nights, 4 Cities: The Bouncing Souls Go All In

November 16, 2011 - 9:39 am

The Bouncing Souls completed an amazing series of shows recently in Hollywood. They played 8 albums, 2 albums each night, 4 nights in a row, in 4 different cities. That’s something like 106 songs. I mean, sure they have been around now 20 years. And sure they are on the road constantly. And sure, they are great at what they do. But keeping all those songs straight…its kind of an epic achievement even for the consummate professional.

Film Fall of Night: Film Short Review

November 7, 2011 - 2:41 pm

Fall of Night is a story of four roommates who have lived together for fifteen years, and one of those roommates is M. Night Shyamalan.

This charming short is either a letter of scorn for the critically slain M. Night Shyamalan, or an open plea for him to get back to the essentials that made him. Writers, Steven Haas and Ross Raventos have captured the essence of what it might be like to be regular people sharing a home with an eccentric like M. Night.
