Fashion Featured Gallery Inside Paris Hilton’s Closet

July 22, 2011 - 10:39 am

Even the biggest of closets can’t hold all the clothing and accessories that are thrown a celebrity’s way. Plus, let’s be honest, when your life is in the public eye, wearing the same dress to more than one party won’t earn you points with the paparazzi. A celebrity’s wardrobe is continuously evolving and there are always things that need to be tossed, or in the case of Paris Hilton, sold to new owners in the name of charity.

Music From Basement to Big Time: Owl City

July 20, 2011 - 10:46 am

Adam Young from Owl City might be a pretty quiet guy but his music speaks volumes. Credited as being one of several musicians single-handedly responsible for resurrecting the synth-pop genre, Young’s project, Owl City, has sold well over a million albums. The band’s latest release, “All Things Bright and Beautiful” came out on June 14th, debuting at the #2 spot on the US iTunes chart. The previous album, “Ocean Eyes” contained hit single “Fireflies” which went quadruple platinum and floored even the snobbiest of music critics.

It’s hard to nab a conversation with Young. He’s a pretty reserved guy and admits that doing interviews are not his favorite thing in the world. ChinaShop was lucky enough to track him down for a moment to discuss how making music in his parent’s basement caught the eye of Universal Republic and turned him into an overnight success. Young also told us his secret desires to musically collaborate with Shaq and shared his experiences with walking around in a space suit in a post apocalyptic world for his latest music video.

Music Drop The Lime: Rockabilly Meets Drum and Bass

July 18, 2011 - 2:08 pm

Imagine hitting a massive dance club in the heart of Hollywood on a weekend night. The 19 and up crowd consisting of girls in tight and tiny skirts and fellas rocking your basic t-shirt and jeans…and pompadours? For every 5 club kids, there was at least one rockabilly kid in the mix. A strange equation for a regular weekend night, unless of course you were at a Drop the Lime show.

Drop The Lime (born Luca Venezia in NYC) is not only an electronic producer and DJ, but he found the dance label Trouble & Bass. He unleashed his unique brand of dance/rockabilly onto a fevered crowd this past Friday night at Avalon in Hollywood. Deep resounding bass bombs forced your attention and moved your feet. DTL’s refreshing blend of the classic rock n roll standards with an electronic rhythm that leads you resoundingly into the night.
