Red Bull Grand Design Challenge

ChinaShop is hosting an online contest inviting designers, fashionistas, and motorsport enthusiasts to design the 2011 Red Bull Grid Girl outfits for the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix (July 22-24 2011) and Red Bull Indianapolis GP (August 26-28, 2011) MotoGP races.

What’s MotoGP, you ask? It is the world’s premier motorcycle racing series, where the riders can go over 200 mph on million-dollar motorcycles. With 18 races in 13 countries, it is the two-wheel version of Formula 1.

The Red Bull Grid Girls help to keep the festivities interesting. Every year a group of very hot – and I’m sure, talented – models are chosen to help start the race and help celebrate at the finish.

Red Bull hosts both American MotoGP races, and would like a different, new design for the girls to wear at each one. You don’t have to be a race enthusiast in order to desire to see an outfit you conceived on the girls. You don’t even need to know how to sew! Red Bull will take care of getting the outfits constructed, all you have to do is come up with an innovative, creative, classic, tasteful yet sexy design. Think in terms of an entire look including perhaps a hat? belt? shoes? etc. Start doodling on those drink napkins NOW!

Here’s all you have to do:

Starting today, scan your drawing, sketch, photo, etc and send it to info@chinashopmag.com. Put MOTOGP in the subject line.
May 25th: All entries must be in. We will choose the top 10 designs and post images of them on the ChinaShop Facebook page for readers to vote on. We encourage each designer to promote their design and direct their friends to vote, as well.
May 31st: Voting on facebook will close, and Red Bull will select the winner for each MotoGP race.

PRIZE: The 2 winning designs will be produced and worn by the Red Bull Grid Girls on the track at Red Bull US Grand Prix and Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix. The winning designer and guest (guardian if you’re under 18 years of age) will be flown out to the Red Bull US Grand Prix or Red Bull Indianapolis Grand Prix and experience a global motorsports event from an exclusive hospitality suite. Prize valued at $5,000 (includes airfare, transportation to/from hotel, hotel, race tickets, and Red Bull Energy hospitality passes).

Contest Rules:

Rule #1:
You must be creative.
Rule #2:
You must use the Red Bull brand logo.
Rule #3:
This competition is open to residents of the United States, ages 13 and older.
Rule #4:
You must create a full Grid Girl look – we’re talking shirt, hat, shoes, accessories….
Rule #5:
The sky’s the limit. Use past Grid Girl outfits solely as inspiration. We want to see what you can design.
Rule #6:
You must be ready to see your designs on the track. Red Bull Grid Girls will wear your designs at the race for everyone to see.
Rule #7:
The winning designs can be adapted at Red Bull’s sole discretion based upon Red Bull brand standards.
Rule #8:
Only one submission per person is allowed.
Rule #9:
Your submission must be uploaded by midnight PST on May 25^th.

Acknowledgement: Selection of participants in the Red Bull MotoGP Grid Girls Contest (the “Contest”) shall be in the sole discretion of Red Bull North America, Inc. (“Red Bull,” “We,” “Us” or “Our(s)”). Red Bull reserves the right, in its sole discretion, to cancel the Contest and/or disqualify any participants at any time. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. By participating in the Contest selection process (the “Selection Process”), you hereby agree to abide by any and all Contest rules and irrevocably grant permission to Red Bull and its parent, affiliates, subsidiaries, promotional partners and agents, and each of their directors, officers, employees and assigns (all of the foregoing, the “Red Bull Parties”), to use and authorize the use by third parties of your name, likeness, city and state of residence, and other biographical information as determined by Red Bull in its sole discretion. Any material you submit and/or enter into the Selection Process and/or in connection with the Contest, including, without limitation, sketches, pictures and/or videos (collectively, the “Submitted Material”) shall be the sole property of Red Bull and may be used by the Red Bull Parties for any purpose in all media and formats whether now known or later developed, throughout the world in perpetuity, without any additional notice or compensation.
