May 31, 2011 - 10:24 am

She Wants Revenge played a sold out show at The Roxy on Monday night to celebrate the release of their new album, “Valleyheart.” The band’s family, friends, and avid supporters, such as Danny Masterson (That 70’s Show), swarmed the front of the stage, while the ticketless perched outside the venue offering those that passed by up to $100 for their tickets. After an opening set by the energetic Nico Vega, She Wants Revenge took the stage and celebrated the May 23rd release of “Valleyheart” in their hometown.

Prior to the show, ChinaShop headed to the preparty at Talesai to chat with Adam Bravin and Justin Warfield, who popped in sporadically at the end of the conversation as he was trying to preserve his voice for the evening ahead of him. The band discussed touring with Depeche Mode, the process behind creating “Valleyheart,” and why they consider their latest release to be their greatest musical accomplishment to date.

Film Fridays Dear Mr. Nolan: 5 Irreverent but completely necessary Things to Include in The Dark Knight Rises

May 27, 2011 - 10:52 pm

Bane, Please Don't Suck

With filming already having commenced for The Dark Knight Rises, with the Nolans masterfully pulling their strings behind the scenes, and with Gary Oldman calling the script ‘fantastic’, we are sure the final installment will be amazing. Nonetheless, here’s some dorky requests from a fanboy that believes certain things could make said installment perfect.

5. Bad-Ass MF. I don’t think I’m the only one who’s sick of seeing congenial, venerable, bow-tie wearing Morgan Freeman. Lucius Fox has skills that would shame McGyver and yet keeps taking orders from people, even though he’s smarter than them. He should become Luscious Fox, have some girls by his side, and use those skills of his to start kicking some ass. Get angry, Mr. Freeman. The closest to a bad guy we’ve had is you in that movie with all the flooding and Christian Slater.

I Ain't Driving You Anywhere, Bitch.

Gallery Music Post Rapture Wrap up… Saint Motel

May 27, 2011 - 1:01 pm

If you are wondering why this article is a week late, it is because I was “supposed” to be dead.  Yep. Once again, I fell for the ol’ End of the World shtick only to wake the next morning planking a Carl’s Jr drive through with no pants on and a $300 bar tab. I really thought third time was a charm. Thankfully, for you, this time I decided to document my demise along side a packed house at The Roxy on Sunset a la fellow pop rockin doomsdayers Saint Motel’s Judgment Day. If unfamiliar with this assemblage their tombstones should’ve read- A/J Jackson (front man), Aaron Sharp (shredder), Dak (slappin bass), and Greg Erwin (skins).

Music Eve 6 Reunites Inside and Out

May 27, 2011 - 10:11 am

Eve 6

It’s been nearly seven years since the original three members of Eve 6 played their last show together and there was little doubt as to whether the alternative rock trio would ever grace the stage again.

But a few months ago, vocalist/bassist Max Collins and drummer Tony Fagenson received a pleasantly surprising text message from the founding guitarist.

“We heard from ‘Sweet Pea’ — Jon Siebels, as we call him,” Collins recalls. “We had lunch and decided to try out a rehearsal to see how things flowed, and it felt fantastic. We’re just stoked on it!”
