Music A-Muse Me!

Muse at Voodoo Experience

I don’t like Muse. I mean, I don’t dislike them either. I just don’t particularly find that their music speaks to me. So when I saw them live at Voodoo Experience I sort of went into it with next to no expectations. Being the headliner there must be added pressure to end things on a high note, so to speak. And I have heard time and again that their live show is down right legendary. Well shut my mouth and paint me a unicorn…the tales were true.

Muse

I mean, let’s start with lead singer, Matthew Bellamy’s disco suit and stunner shades. Like a living disco ball every light in the place refracted off that thing making it impossible to look away. His vocals…spot on. The Kawai grand piano with lucite top produced a mix of envy and delight in me that was so unexpected I actually stayed for the entire show.

I heard a rumor while in attendance that their show takes 48 hours to load in. It must cost an absolute fortune, not to mention seriously prohibit back to back gigs in different cities. But if you want to be considered the next serious rock royalty, you had better be prepared to storm the castle.

Muse

I’d like to personally thank Muse for not only going gigantic, but for making big tunes full of dimension and depth. I was wrong to be so on the fence about you…clearly you really know how to rock.
