The iconic video game The Legend of Zelda was co-created by one of the industries most respected artists, Shigeru Miyamoto.  Its design was meant to wax poetic on the misadventures in his childhood home of Kyoto, Japan. In kind, the hugely successful symbiotic online sitcom The Legend of Neil was created by a guy who plays a stalker on a hugely popular web series The Guild, Sandeep Parikh.  His concept is based on a guy getting all shit housed and wanting to wax the ass of the fairy in The Legend of Zelda, whilst using the controller wire as a means of autoerotic asphyxiation, who then becomes magically transported into the game world.  You say tomato, I say tomato.  But don’t scoff what ever you do, because it’s good. Really good.

I recently talked with Sandeep (for a few minutes of yelling at each other over the crowd at Comic-Con 2010) and these two stories are all I gather from said garbled audio recording:

Here we are at Comic-Con 2010, Sandeep, tell me a story.

Sandeep Parikh: Ya know, I signed my first boob today. I was technically closer to the clavicle, than the nipple, but I’m still pretty happy with that.  I tweeted it and it had many favorable responses.

Was their undue pressure applied to said signing or maybe even a phone number scrawled?

Sandeep Parikh: Sadly no, she was in line for the signing at “The Guild” and had to move down the line too quickly.

I’m sure you’ve had your fair share of interviews this week, so let’s skip the b.s., what would you like to talk about?

Sandeep Parikh: I would like to talk about my show The Legend of Neil. I am debuting season #3 here at Comic-Con followed by a panel discussion with the cast.

He glances at his PR man and asks, “Can I talk about the”… the Mysterious PR man asks me “When is this going to publish?”

Monday-ish? (I reply) Depending on how much I drink Sunday night.

Mysterious PR man says, “OK”

Sandeep Parikh O.K. then…  I just signed a blind (do what ye may) script deal with Comedy Central, based upon the success of The Legend of Neil. Kind of proves that doing something your way and going your own route on the web IS a way to be successful.

LOUD NOISES the rest of the tape.

I know there was some more chit chat about childhood, career, and aspirations in there. But, I had you at autoerotic asphyxiation, so Seacrest out!
