Guy Davis is the celebrated artist of ‘B.P.R.D.’ and the creator of the haunting black-and-white graphic novel ‘The Marquis’, which ‘Hellboy’ creator Mike Mignola called, “beautiful, smart, and very disturbing.” Last year, Davis won the coveted Eisner Award for Best Penciller & Inker in the industry. To date, Davis has drawn nearly one hundred issues for Dark Horse Comics.

How did you get started working in the industry?

Guy Davis: I started doing comics professionally back in 1985 with independent small press books, one deadline and publisher lead to another, and I’ve been lucky to keep working away ever since.

What are you doing instead of going to Comic-Con this year?

Guy Davis: I’ll be behind the drawing board working ahead on the next B.P.R.D. series ‘Hell on Earth’, along with my creator-owned book, The Marquis!

What’s the most important aspect of the industry that you feel goes unnoticed in the mainstream coverage of comics?

Guy Davis: The sheer amount of diversity in genre and art styles in comics out there; most mainstream coverage seems to focus on the mainstream, either the superhero genre or current movie tie-ins.

What is your favorite Dark Horse comic?

Guy Davis: Usagi Yojimbo!

If you could have one superpower, what would it be?

Guy Davis: To work twice as fast!
