Nar Williams

Voted one of Wired.com’s “Top 150 Geeky Media People to Follow on Twitter,” Nar Williams has made quite the name for himself in the sci-fi and technology world. Although sci-fi and technology have a stigma of being… well… excruciatingly nerdy (insert pocket protectors here) – Nar’s new online series with Crave Online, Fanboy Funhouse, takes geek-chic to a whole new level. …Their set includes a giant blue playground SLIDE.
Described as “Pee-wee Herman meets Mystery Science Theater 3000,” Funhouse gives their audience the inside scoop on movies, games, comics, and all things that would make Patrick John Luc Picard do a cartwheel. Between waxing his blue playground slide for Funhouse guests to come flying down and sculpting his celebrated indie rock hair-do, Nar answered these questions for us…

In Fanboy Funhouse, you spend your days with a foul mouthed dragon and a sexually confused brain box… thing! It makes me curious as to how you spent your actual childhood and what were your favorite toys?

Nar Williams: I spent my childhood running around with a video camera making really stupid sketches with my friends. As you can see, not much has changed.

What do you think the Pig Janitor wanted to be when he grew up? Besides bacon?

Nar Williams: (Nar applies nasal nerd accent.) Actually, Dugnot is not a pig — he is an Ugnaught, a porcine humanoid from the planet Gentes that was first featured in Star Wars Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back. They’re basically the gearheads of Cloud City. (Nar gets punched in face.)

Fanboy Funhouse totally nerds out (in an awesome way!) when it comes to video games, comics, and movies. Would you ever showcase a fan’s original piece?

Nar Williams: Funny you should ask, we actually have plans to shoot a segment called “Fanboy Showcase” where we do exactly that. You should see some of these geek modified cars, they’re amazing.

How did Fanboy Funhouse come to be?

Nar Williams: I did a web series for Crave Online called “Heads Up with Nar Williams” that was sponsored by AT&T and went over quite well (it was honored by the Webby Awards in the Variety Show category). When it had run it’s course, I pitched them “Fanboy Funhouse” because I wanted to do something really out there and different. Thankfully, AT&T got behind it.

Describe the show in 3 words.

Nar Williams: Surreal Geek Wackiness.

Who is your favorite female superhero and why?

Nar Williams: Emma Frost is clearly the hottest mutant ever. EVER.

How many injuries have there been via Fanboy Funhouse’s super awesome SLIDE?

Nar Williams: None. We take safety very seriously at the Funhouse, which is why Dugnot is kept on a steady stream of valium.

What is your favorite video game?

Nar Williams: Super Mario Kart!!! It’s so addictive and fun. Nintendo tops itself with every new version.

Will you be my best friend?

Nar Williams: Are you kidding? I’ll be the wind beneath your freakin’ wings, yo!
