Girl Talk aka Mike Gillis united the festival last Sunday with his “something for everyone” brand of mash-up madness. Gillis’ set was a sonic cornucopia that broke rules and blended genres. Be it Metallica, Weezy, or Avril, you can bet the farm that it was in the soup. & Throughout the entire show, one thing held true… This was about having a good time and getting people moving.
Within the first 60 seconds of the performance, sweet pandemonium ensued as toilet paper flew from modified leaf blower apparati while drag queens showed off their stuff (that sounds bad). Next, the crowd stormed the stage signifying that the raucous had begun. The spark from stage spread to the crowd, sending hipsters and pop-sters alike into a frenzy, and whether you were there to see Ke$ha or Minus the Bear, and whether you knew it or not, you were there to see Girl Talk.
