When seven of the world’s finest holed up in a cargo van to participate in the Red Bull BC One– a no holds barred, 3-minute b-boy competition to decide who’d get the throne and bring all other dancers to their knees – it was a chance bond with fellow b-boyers to develop friendships and even participate in a little friendly competition. But what began as an amicable journey ended up getting a little dysfunctional, as tempers flared and one of the boys decided to go Greyhound.
Regarded by many as the ultimate competition between bboyers all around the world, the Red Bull BC One is considered by many to be a Gladiator-like fight to the finish. The losers aren’t killed, but to get as far as they have only to go home as anything but the best, it’s often all too evident that they’ve been dealt some crushing blows. Emcee/Hip hop/beatbox master Rahzel provided some real talent and humor, but this was no joke. With the timer set at three minutes apiece, each bboyer engaged in the beat street equivalent of an Old West gun-draw.
Masters came from all over the world to participate — there was Hong 10 from Korea, who had won the Red Bull BC One Championship back in 2006, and world champion Ronnie Abaldonado from Las Vegas. Both had their work cut out for them — this show was all about one thing– SKILLS. Check out the video below for an exclusive peek at the battle.
