Throw a rock in Hollywood and it will probably land in someones drink. This town thrives on its night life, celebrities and decadent designs. Bardot has a touch of all the above. Nestled cleverly above Avalon, on Vine Street right in the heart of Hollywood, its exclusive entrance and comfortable design make you feel like you are a guest in a playboy’s penthouse. I swung by on Saturday night to see for myself if this upscale club lived up to its blossoming reputation, and have to say I was not disappointed.
Bardot, previously the Spider Club, has reinvented itself to impress. Once you make your way up the unmarked stairs you find yourself in a delightfully cozy series of rooms that invite you to do nothing but relax and have a good time. I found the staff to be incredibly attentive and considerate, the drinks delicious and the company even more intoxicating. Like all hot spots in Hollywood, half of what makes them hot are the patrons. Various actors, musicians, dj’s and models roamed the space throughout the evening. The music, at least on Saturday night, was a mix of classic 80′s hits and current club anthems. Even if you weren’t compelled to the dance floor, you couldn’t help but to sing along.
As though they channeled the beauty and glamour of Bridget Bardot herself, this lounge manages to welcome and seduce you at the same time. The late night menu was a nice blend of fine finger foods that both looked and tasted great. I had a bite of the tuna and the sliders and recommend either for a little blotting paper throughout the evening.
The best part about Bardot was that at the end of the evening I left feeling like I had a real Hollywood experience, old school style. It was secluded enough to feel quaint, busy enough to feel vibrant and stayed unpretentious and inviting at the same time. Every night the clubs transforms itself slightly, like Bridget Bardot once said, “I can’t do the same thing every night, the same gestures… it’s like putting on dirty panties every day.”
Follow the various happenings at Bardot on their website. ChinaShop is sending our famed contributor Zoe out this coming Tuesday night to experience Mr. Black, the fabulous gay club. Join her if you dare, and check back to see what she has to say about it!
