Of COURSE some of these trends sound familiar. They get recycled pretty much every year - or, at most, every five years. I tend to think of them more as "classics" rather than "trends" - or, at the very least, "personal classics." I'm all set for 2010, because the trends that interest me are already in my closet. Heck, they're on me right now! I'm at work, and I'm wearing: A very nice sequinned black V-neck tank; black velvet trumpet skirt, mid-calf; sturdy black Buttero boots, engineer-influenced; black velvet jacket lined with floral chiffon brocaded with gold, with a smattering of tiny gold sequins. I bought the pieces before the trends were announced, and I'll be wearing them after the demise of these particular trends is announced. There's a ton of black in my wardrobe, a couple of drawersful of items that sparkle or glitter, and a smattering of tribal pieces (some of which cross with "black" and "sparkle"). Leather, lace, military pieces; they're already in my wardrobe. And they're staying there, too.

Admittedly, once a trend starts it usually sticks around in some incarnation/variation for a few years after (ex: structured blazers.) But yes, these predictions seem a little familiar.

I agree, jeans of any kind are sort of in their own category. Off of the runway, people will always wear jeans; they are just a go-to item that can be dressed up or down. Something I like about the current fashion climate is that I can walk into a department store and find almost any style and cut of jean, from skinny to relaxed boyfriend styles.

Yeah, these mostly sound like old trends.

And I think skinny jeans are in a different category than said "luxe legwear".

I don't disagree that the color black will be popular in the winter, but when isn't it?

Anyone else feels like these so-called "2010 predictions" sound like 2008/2009 trends ?

Just saying...
