Normally you wouldn’t think the words nerd and model go together, but The Suicide Girls and Comic Con go hand in hand. This is my second year at Comic Con with SG and I can only say that it’s getting better and better every year.
Last year, we had one booth. We were small, but we were mighty: posing for pictures, signing books, and selling memberships.
This year we’ve grown; now we’ve got two booths—one right across from the DC booth. (Location, location, location!) Even better, Suicidegirls.com had a contest for members (http://suicidegirls.com/boards/Everything+SG/303083/) allowing them to pick costume themes for us to dress up in at the booths each day. Ultimately, we dressed up as Tank Girl, Lost Darmites (in ACTUAL Dharma jumpsuits from the show), and Uhura . Rivaling booth babes at their respective booths, our costumes were pretty epic.
There are two misconceptions that I hear on the street and read in forums all the time. That should be dispelled. I think they’ll give you some insight in to the world that is “The Suicide Girls.”
The first misconception that needs to be dispelled is this: Suicide Girls do not get paid to attend conventions.
When you walk up to a booth, every one of those girls has paid out of their own pocket and (sometimes) traveled far to meet with the attendees and experience the convention. We’re fans—HUGE fans—showing up, lists in hand, ready to attend panels and signings all while standing in a booth for ten hours straight with limited breaks and no time to sit down. Taking pictures, signing, and talking about the website, there is never a moment to rest.
All that being said, and as rough as it is, we LOVE it and wouldn’t have it any other way.
The second misconception that should be dispelled is that we’re unapproachable. The thing I love MOST about a con is meeting all of the fans and making new friends. We get a lot of people who approach us for pictures…shaking! There’s no need to be nervous. We’re accessible people and we here at the convention as fans first, so if you get us started talking about a panel, it’s really difficult to shut us up. So, if you see us in a booth, come by and ask us how we feel about the last season of Ventur Bros, or what we think is going to happen in Lost, or if we saw the Avatar panel. We love it and we love the con!
Keep visiting us year round at Suicidegirls.com!

Love the outfits! i definitely have to make it to comic con next year.
I picked up a membership, last minute (and I do mean last minute. They were closing the Con when I had to run to the 2200 Booth because the other didn’t take credit) and it was awesome of you guys to have the 1-year for $30 membership. I really wanted to get the new book, but I think I had gotten to the limit of how much I should spend at CC.
The approachable problem really sucks, though a lot of the time it might just be because people are shy. Take me for example. While getting my membership, one of the girls said she liked my Umbrella Corp jacket. I could only shyly mumble a thank you before practically running off to leave, without getting her name, or even a good look at her. But I’ve always had a little trouble approaching pretty women, much less being approached by one myself.
But that aside, you guys are awesome, and I think its actually cooler that you all paid to go because you wanted to, rather than were paid to be a booth filler. Really wish I had gotten a chance to get pictures with some of you, but CC was crazy. I’ll have to make a longer stop next year.
Thank you!
