Many attend the San Diego Comic Con with an empty piece of luggage in tow. These are the seasoned Comic-Coneers who have learned from their long years of attendance that they’ll be leaving with more than they came with. There’s nothing like that thrill in finding that one rare item to take back home. Okay, maybe it’s like how Indiana Jones might feel when he acquires an ancient idol. So, in a way, all Comic Con shoppers are like Indy — searching for that prized item that they don’t need, but must have.
Preview night at Comic Con takes place Wednesday, when booths are still setting up, and certain exclusive items are first made available for purchase. There are two schools of thought on getting the best deal. One is to buy it early, to be sure you actually get what you want. The second is to scout out the item you want and wait until Sunday to get a deal. Sunday is when Comic Con ends and dealers are more likely to drop the price so they don’t have to lug it back. Choosing a wise shopping strategy is the secret to getting your hands on one of these…
1. Cool Tees (4600)
These cool t-shirts are $22 each and all of them make a statement. Three for $60.
2. Bruce Lee Statues (4612 & 4613)
$250 each. Study the martial arts in detail with these statues.
3. Japanese Mouse Pad (4626)
$55 seems like a small price to pay for a mouse pad from Japan with a boob job. What a restful place to rest your wrists. My favorite.
4. Original Skate Deck Art by Ragner (4644)
$800 one-of-a-kind skate deck painted by Ragner. Display it or grind it.
5. Presidential Action Figure (4654 & 4674)
Yes, Barack Obama can be bought. And for only $25! The John Kricfalusi designed figurine is only $20.
6. Fanny Pack (4684)
Practical at Comic Con, displays a suggestive phrase in the groin region and only $10.
7. Michael Bay Bootleg Tee (4703)
This hard-to-find item must be bought in darker corners of the con for $20, but you can get a deal if you just ask.
8. Stimpy Balloon Hat (4744)
$20 and will make you queen of the Con. But only for about a day.
9. Star Trek Cologne (4092 & 4897)
Smell like, well, you’re not at Comic Con. A special cologne version called Kahn is only available at the Con… so to speak. This will set you back a mere $24.99.
10. Sideshow Collectibles Green Lantern Statue (4749)
Own the one who wears the ring. Based on the classic version of the Green Lantern from the comics. Future models will likely feature Ryan Reynolds, so this is the one to get. Price not yet available, probably because it’s priceless.
