Band of Horses played this years Coachella. Their runaway hit The Funeral has an emo vibe that one would assume might make them a good fit for the alt rock lineup. Clearly the thousands of people paying rapt attention to them at the show made me re-think my initial impression…which was “what is this southern rock band doing playing Coachella”? But you know, that’s just me.

cool Pics, Kehni!
but..they’re a sub-pop band from Seattle.
how are they southern-rock, or emo ?
emo is hardcore punk from the 80′s in D.C. with bands like “Rites of Spring”, “Embrace” & “Far”. Bands like “Jimmy Eat World” & “Saves the Day” brought it into the mainstream.
check your music genre terms…
I’m not sure about emo shannon, but they def. are sort of “southern-rock”-ish
It says emo VIBE, and that stupid funeral song sounds emo to me. What’s with the wikipedia definition of “emo” Shannon….we all know what it is, and it couldn’t be further from hardcore punk…maybe those lame bands in the 80′s took it there but they sincerely stopped being hardcore punk the minute they started to tap into their softer side. To say emo IS hardcore punk is just uninformed.
