Writing about the Sasha and John Digweed boat party is a thankless task because the truth is no words, no pictures and no video can adequately approximate the magic of being there.

Not that the details can hurt. Imagine a yacht, the kind where polite people welcome you to the party as if they were happy to see you. Then glance around the deck and see people like Dj Dan, Hernan Cattaneo, John Graham, Nick Warren hanging out, catching up on things. Eating a prime rib dinner, making as many trips to the open bar as you wanted. Oh, and sailing across Miami with a bunch of your favorite people, who you haven’t seen since the last party, while Sasha and John play the perfect, sexy “backyard” set of the year. Throw a circle of good energy around the enterprise and it’s suddenly like maybe there really is a reason to believe in Santa Claus. Because this party, if you are lucky enough to be there, is the ultimate gift.

Even more to the point, it is probably the last of the Miami traditions left standing. The Masters at Work Party, Danny at Space, all are barely memories now. But the boat party, which began back in the days before the dot com boom had burst, is alive and well. And, for me, it’s still the real reason to make the trek to Miami.

I wanted to go to that party but was not able to get a ticket. I would have loved to see Sasha and Digweed playing! I guess it will have to wait till next year. Amazing pics!!!

Missing this party was my biggest regret for not indulging in the conference shenanigans this year. Glad to see it was as cool as it ever was. Thanks for sharing Neil.

As we walked out on the top deck, I overheard a guy say “Welcome to the top of the world.” We were some luck SOB’s. Thank you to everyone that contributed to the magic of that evening.

Sasha’s a God. Seeing him play at Shelleys all those years ago cannot be topped. You hade to be there to experience the real magic. If only it was 1990 again.

Sounds like you all had so much fun – gotta get there. Been seeing Sasha and Digs since the early Twilo days… bet there was no Phazon sound system on the boat (tee hee)

I heard about this last year after WMC 2008, but didn’t know where or how to get a ticket. I just came back from WMC 2009 and once again I missed out! I purchased all of my tickets in advance this year from http://www.wanttickets.com, but didn’t see this one listed. I did get to see them play together at Mansion, but definitely would have preferred to see them play together while out at sea. I’m not concerned about the cost for next year’s party. I just need some direction to find our more about it. Can anyone help me? PLEASE!

What an amazing set, totally blew our minds.
We flew across at the last minute as were luck enough to get tickets…. Virgin had no other seats other than those in upper class..the champagne flowed, the other passengers just looked in horror…Let the party begin………Arrived and got straight on it.

Top bannana Sasha have seen you at Ministry in London and Fabric (AWSOME SET) and when its been pi*ing down with rain at Global Gathering… will see you again at creamfields…

May even risk easy jet to see you in Eivissa….
