“…believed by conspiracy groups to be planning cataclysmic events as a way to unite the world under one government.”
You’ve heard those conspiracy theories about 9/11 — some believe that the twin towers were brought down by a secret government agency with a controlled blast and not a group of madmen hijaking airplanes. New World Order follows several of these rabid conspiracy theorists with most of the focus on radio host and cult hero Alex Jones. Directors Luke Meyer and Andrew Neel, who also made the SXSW 2006 award-winning film Darkon, take a non-judgemental, fly-on-the-wall approach to their subjects leaving the audience to decide if these are a paranoid minority or a growing group who are actually onto something. The New World Order in the title refers to a secret organization believed by conspiracy groups to be planning cataclysmic events as a way to unite the world under one government. Y’know, kind of like (spoiler) the ending of Watchmen.
Alex clearly has charisma, which leads to him being a frequent guest on TV and talk radio. During these media appearances he is often ridiculed for his outlandish theories, or as Alex rants, he has been set up and is now the subject of another “hit piece.” A fire alarm goes off during one of his important radio spots leading Alex to believe that it was done intentionally to sabotage the interview. After a frantic exit from the hotel hallway, he begins to trace every moment leading up to the alarm going off. He comes to the conclusion that the security guard was in on it the whole time. Alex is very much like an unmasked Rorschach from Watchmen as he seeks any means possible to scream his message to the skeptical and uninformed masses. This leads to heated exchanges on the street as horribly offended passersby react angrily to Alex and his band of misfit conspiracy theorists. A protest intended to get the word out devolves into a tearful confession by one of these possibly paranoid yet passionate theorists.

Alex Jones is on a mission to save the world from itself and his journey, even if you believe him to be misguided, he has good intentions at heart. Believe him or not, since when did asking questions become so wrong?
